He was diagnosed with Stage 4 Kidney Cancer in 2017 and then had his kidney removed a few years afterward. He was later diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma that was unable to be operated on. He had targeted radiation in 2023 where he lost mobility on his left foot. Recent scans have revealed the tumor is growing as he has been told they need to operate in June or he can become completely paralyzed. He now is unable to do the things he loves, like gardening. His child reached out to Stella’s Wish and said “I just would love some good news for him finally” and asked for a trip for Mario and his wife after these discouraging times.

Stella’s Wish Foundation was able to send Mario and his wife on a relaxing trip to Waikiki Beach Resort in Hawaii for 6 days and 5 nights to decompress and spend quality time together.
