166. Jason Halbert

Jason Halbert was diagnosed with grade IV pontine Glioblastoma (high grade glioma of the brainstem). It is an aggressive brain cancer with a poor prognosis, so his wife and two daughters asked us to fulfill one of his biggest wishes.  Jason LOVES the Dallas Cowboys. He never misses watching a game on TV, follows all of the players, their stats, wears the jerseys, all of it. He’s been a lifelong fan, sharing that with his own father when he was young. Unfortunately, Jason has never been to an actual game! To be able to see his team play this season in their home stadium would be the ULTIMATE experience, and to share it with his daughters would be such an incredible gift.

Jason’s wish was granted and the family went to a Dallas Cowboys football game on August 24th!

I really have no words. Stella’s Wish Foundation and Dallas Cowboys took a wish from a little family fighting a huge monster and not only granted the wish but turned it into the fullest bucket list experience we could have imagined.

We were taken in through a secret entrance, walked through the tunnels, and onto the field. We were given a special VIP spot and had three designated Cowboys representatives that basically acted as our body guards. No one was allowed to get in “our space” and security was told that when players came over, it was for “this man and his family and no one else”. What???

The first to come over was Jason Garrett. He took us out to the field to take pics. And I guess we were on TV! He commented on Jason’s Staubach jersey and was truly the nicest guy. Jason Witten came over and shook all of our hands. He’s HUGE! Next to come over was Randall Cobb. In the video, you’ll see Ashlee basically fall in love with him and his eyes. And as we’re standing there in awe of these guys, I look up and Dak Prescott is taking Jason out onto the field! He shook his hand and then took pictures with him. We were told that Prescott never comes over and it was a first. He was very cool and made sure we had all the pictures we wanted.

I hope Jason had the time of his life and will cherish this experience. I know the girls and I will forever remember watching him take it all in. So much love for both of these organizations!
